Jujutsu Kaisen: Itadori and Nanami Have Good Empathetic Souls

Nanami Kento clearly has a talent for guiding Itadori, but their bond in Jujutsu Kaisen may be due to how similar the pair really are.

Nanami Kento and Itadori Yuji have developed one of the closer mentor/student bonds in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Since their first meeting, Nanami has been a cornerstone force for the optimistic but often confused Itadori, helping the teenager develop his skills with skill and a sympathetic hand.

Nanami is a former employee who thinks critically and intellectually, so first appearances suggest that adults might clash with Itadori's innocent heart. While Nanami initially seems indifferent towards Yuji, even giving him a cold demeanor, the similarities between the two quickly begin to show.

When looking at the various aspects of Nanami and Itadori's character and interactions throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, it's clear the two have a very close bond.

While Gojo Satoru was the one who originally took Itadori under his wing, campaigning against the higher-ups of the Jujutsu society to delay his execution, the strongest mage eventually put aside his pride and introduced Itadori to Nanami.

Gojo made the decision to give Itadori the most mature wizard as a mentor, as he realized his own teaching style would not suit the boy's needs.

Therefore, Nanami takes on an authoritative role in Itadori's life. From there, the emotional bond between the two grew stronger, even Nanami learned a thing or two from her teenage students.

Itadori and Nanami Have Empathy That Rivals in Jujutsu Kaisen

Perhaps the most defining attribute for Itadori and Nanami is their empathy, both as humans and as masters of Jujutsu magic.

From the very beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Itadori's main motivation was to give a proper death to those around him. Any death that he deems wrong or meaningless is considered very personal even if he does not know the victim.

Similar to Itadori, Nanami's motivations are also related to people, but her journey follows a different structure. He left the wizarding world of Jujutsu to work as a clerk, changing his career because he couldn't handle consistent losses.
